I’m an English teacher, blogger, and novelist. I like fiction that defies convention while acknowledging the inherently diverse nature of literary traditions. On a personal level, I’ve always preferred reading works from the canon, but I also read contemporary fiction, poetry, and lesser works from well-known authors. Above all I enjoy critiquing literature for its artistry and design. For this blog I write satire, writing tips, and the occasional update post. If you are an author and would like to submit an excerpt for me to display here, feel free to send me an email: ejamesolson1@gmail.com

What is it about us high school English teachers that make us want to write books with darkness in them?

Thanks for the question. I’m not really sure. I know that a lot of the fiction I teach is dark too.

Hi, Eric. Thanks for visiting my blog and for following. I recently self-published my first novel, a coming of age in the 1950s and 60s entitled DOG BONE SOUP. It’s story of poverty and prejudice at a time when many Americans were living “The American Dream.” Let me know if you would be interested in reading it. I would be delighted to gift you a copy. Following you! Have a great day, Bette

I was a Kg teacher, but everyone always teased me about being an English teacher, since I compulsively proofread! And comment freely.
